Lin Tarczynski
Wm. Yost was the creator of a daily comic published in newspapers from 1983 to 2001. He is also a fictitious character I created to facilitate the fusion of asemic writing, visual poetry, mythopoeia and world-building that is Geranium Lake Properties. A large part of Yost’s comic was drawn in a conventional style with traditional comic strip narratives, easily recognized as a “funny animal” comic, and I pay no mind to that part of Yost’s epic. And I sometimes feel no connection to any of Yost’s universe, the universe of Jackalopian culture. Other times, the GLP universe seems to me like the true universe, which is to say, a universe where the stories written in asemic writing are true stories, and I am stuck in this other universe, where our words tell nothing but lies, and worse, the words themselves are merely illusions.

Lin Tarczynski is a poet who delights in misusing words, an artist who enjoys making incomprehensible images, then joyfully explaining them with outlandish tales of phantasmagorical creatures. She is also a fictitious character, casting herself as the Unreliable Narrator who haphazardly explains persnickety details about the abstract comics of Geranium Lake Properties while leaving essential (and more fascinating) questions unanswered.
